These forty compositions presented in the same order as they appeared in the original paper, published in Paris in 1554 Le Roy and Ballard et al. They have been transcribed from the facsimile edition of the original manuscript, and every effort has been made to the original tablature transcribed into a modern, easy to play and tablature notation. Although written as a chanson, each part works well as a guitar or ukulele solo.
For guitar, I recommend putting a capo on the third or fourth fret to bring high pitch guitar Renaissance, which was much less than its modern equivalent instrument.
Reentrant tuning of the ukulele does not detract too much from what would otherwise be a faithful execution of these chanson. Most of the works sounds just fine, and in fact during the test for each piece of gameplay and check for errors, I had my tenor ukulele next to me.
