During this second invasion (597 BC), Nebuchadnezzar deported even larger group of Judah’S citizens of the upper and middle class to Babylon, and among this group was a young twenty-six year-old priest in training named Ezekiel. This group of Jewish prisoners had been placed in the Tel Aviv area, as well as a wide channel that connects the two branches of the Euphrates river is known as the Kebar. There they were treated more as colonists than slaves, and enjoyed many privileges.
It was there, on the banks of the river Kebar, that in 593 BC, Now thirty-old Ezekiel received his call from God (Ezekiel 1 & 2). Thirty years of the minimum age, the priests actually allowed to start serving in the temple (Numbers 4: 1-3). And as the Lord, it was from the point that Ezekiel first served the Lord, delivering his first prophetic message to his colleagues captives in Babylon.
